2008 Artist of the Year Award! Redeemed (Quartet)
You
have “done” it now!
I remember as a small child my grandmother would say that when I, or some of her other grandchildren, would do something she was not accustom to her children doing. (Most of the time, one of her other grandchildren would do something bad and tell her it was me!!!) I know you believe that one.
This past weekend I guess would fall into the category of doing something we are not accustomed to by a
long shot. Friday June 12th, we pulled out of Chattanooga at 1:00 PM. We were off on our longest road trip to date. A trip that would not have been possible without the help of our “PIT CREW”! We stopped a couple times for fuel and once to just take an hour and sit around a rest stop table and have a good picnic together. We arrived in Holland around 3 AM, and we all sacked out on the bus for a couple hours, after we got Dianne and Helen to stop laughing.
We headed off to breakfast and in walked one of our dear friends, bass singer and 32 year radio veteran Roger Alan. He came over and joined us for breakfast and met the rest of the group. With Ken’s background in radio they were instant friends.
After we ate and visited for a couple of hours, no one was sleepy anymore so we decided to go set up equipment and run over a few things. We did and before we knew it; the time had slipped away and it was 2:30, we were to meet VOICES 4 PRAISE at 4:00 so they could set up, well that did not happen!!
WOW! what a group of great guys! When four NORTHERN men group together to sing Southern gospel music you know they mean business. We had a blast, Roger Alan joined us for several songs. We swapped parts and had some five part harmony. He acted just like he was one of our original members. Nine people on stage, we sang some with tracks, and then we did some songs around the piano. Rhett took the lead and helped us get started on the wrong song!! We had a great time and really hope we get to sing again with Roger and those guys. (Voices 4 Praise)
Redeemed has few requirements, one of them is we always give people an opportunity to know Christ before they leave our concert. There were several needs met that night in the altar. Sunday morning came about 10 hours TOO EARLY! And time to do it again. By the time we finished the church had prepared a lunch for us, and then it was off to our next concert in Bloomington, Illinois. (A short 4 ½ hour ride; that does not count for Dianne & Helen needing to stop on the way.) When we arrived our very special friend and Redeemed’s first lead singer Preston Brown had just arrived. It sure was good to see “ole PB” back in action again. He sang a few songs, and then he joined us to close out the program. We are so thankful that God moved again. The altars were full and one young lady came to know Christ!! Greg shared the story of how his brother lost his life while singing for the Lord. The entire church was touched, but it really touched the hearts of the young people in that church. Rhett did the invitation and brought home the message. It was great to see those young people respond. WHO SAID Southern Gospel can’t touch young people, we can PROVE it not only can, it does!
We arrived back in Chattanooga around 11:00 AM, just about 70 hours later. No we are not accustomed to that kind of weekend, almost two thousand miles, and really almost non-stop. As we were unloading the bus, I did hear one of the guys say; “Can we do this again next weekend?”. Well, not this very next weekend, but we do have a few more long weekends already booked. We do want to reach out anywhere that God opens the door for us to minister. I can’t tell you how happy Dianne and I are with this group of guys that God has assembled for us to travel with. Greg, Rhett, Ken and we could never be successful without the help of my wife Dianne and Ken’s wife Helen. Greg’s wife Teresa and Rhett’s wife Connie could not make this trip. I know it would have been a lot more fun it they were with us. We hope they will be able to go next time. What a team! As long as we keep God first, and keep following his direction, we trust HE will keep opening more doors in more places for us to witness for Him.
You can link to Voices 4 Praise’s web site from our page by clicking on the “LINKS” tab and then clicking on their name. Please continue to pray for both groups, Preston Brown and Roger Alan as we all minister for God.
GOD is Awesome!
He continues to bless in our concerts. First quarter 2009 has been a tremendous success and we believe that the best is yet to come.
By the grace of GOD in our concerts God has changed the lives of over 40 people!! Praise the Lord!

Just a reminder our finances drop in the winter months. Our number of singings is lower than in the summer months. However our payments on the bus and equipment remain the same.
We are an IRS approved non-profit 501c3 group. That means your donation would be tax-deductable. All donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Redeemed.

“It is NO secret what God can do!!”
A line from an old song, and we don’t want it to be a secret what God has done for Preston Brown. After 31 days in the hospital, and about 20 of those in ICU, Preston went home on 7-18. I can’t wait to read, and hear, Preston’s testimony. He still has some healing to do before he is ready to climb back on the bus, however his progress is nothing less than, “ONE MORE MIRACLE” from God.
